When her daughter's behavior deteriorates because of a traumatic brain injury, Emilie uses her special gift to feel the thoughts of others and acts as an early warning system to looming evil. When her daughter is murdered, Mad Max Davies and her grandchildren set out to solve the crime and bring the killer to justice.
What people are saying about Unintended Consequences
If you like strong, sassy women, suspense and a good mystery, you'll love Mad Max Unintended Consequences. Kudos to Betsy Ashton for a great read. -- Kathleen Grissom, NYTimes Best Selling Author, The Kitchen House
Being a grandmother is the cushiest job around: all the love and cuteness and little of the responsibility. Until everything goes wrong. -- Diane Fanning, NYTimes Best Selling Author
Mad Max presented herself as a strong older female character. I loved her interactions as a sassy, hip, and slightly profane grandmother. She was a real, flawed, quirky human character. MM (the grandkids' abbreviation of Mad Max) clearly had a warm relationship with her daughter's two precocious offspring, though her relationship with her daughter Merry was strained. -- Amazon reviewer
Betsy Ashton's first novel, Mad Max: Unintended Consequences is a fast-paced, well-plotted book. That alone will attract many readers, but add well-developed characters who must make impossible choices, and this book is a winner in this reader's eyes. Ashton did a beautiful job of portraying the agony of a parent going through this process. Even the portrayal of the addicted daughter who suddenly wakes up to a life she doesn't want rings with truth. -- Amazon reviewer
